Quasar Process Compensated Resonant Inspection (PCRI) is a powerful, yet flexible NDT method that provides reliable results at substantially lower costs.
Quasar PCRI provides effective resonance inspection in the presence of typical manufacturing process variations. Using PCRI, defective parts can be reliably rejected on the production line because PCRI results correlate directly to part performance.

The Quasar PCRI technology is built on 5 critical elements:

How Quasar PCRI Works
The resonant frequency of a part is based on its stiffness and mass. The Quasar method measures several resonances for each part and uses a proprietary pattern recognition algorithm to compensate for the acceptable process variations.
Implementing the Quasar system requires a "Training Set" of parts (approximately 150 -200) that have been produced at different stages of the die's life, production process, and includes known rejected and accepted parts. This variety of parts will train the system to create an acceptance frequency range.
Once the system is trained it is ready for high volume inspection. The Quasar drive transducer sweeps the parts through a range of frequencies. The Quasar software measures each of the frequencies at which the part resonates and compares that pattern of resonances to the pattern of an acceptable part. The system then performs a statistical analysis on the pattern, decides if the part is acceptable and then notifies the operator with a green (accept) or red (reject) light. |

The MT-21B is the most basic ultrasonic thickness gage. It is capable of making accurate thickness readings on a variety of materials, with access to only one side of the product. This gage accepts all of our transducers and may be field upgraded to either MT-21 or MT-21DL without return to the factory.

The MT-21 combines the most popular features of our instruments including: gain adjust, vibrating and illuminated alarms, and Transducer Wear Alert, (which informs the user when transducer replacement is needed). The MT-21 may be upgraded in the field to add Echo-to-Echo, B-Scan and 50,000 reading datalogger.

The MT-21DL adds a 50,000 reading flexible datalogger, B-Scan, and Echo-to-Echo to the features of the MT-21. The included custom molded pouch with belt clip is designed for left or right handed use. |
